Ascot Radiology welcomes Dr Emma Parry to their team of specialists.

Introducing Dr Emma Parry MBBS, MD, FRANZCOG, CMFM

Emma is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and one of only five qualified Maternal-Fetal Medicine sub-specialists in New Zealand. She has recently joined Ascot Radiology and will be leading the clinical development of the Women’s Health Ultrasound Team in the area of obstetric scanning. She will be available for both routine and high risk obstetric scanning, as well as for invasive prenatal testing such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS)

Emma is the Clinical Director of the National Women's Health Maternal Fetal Medicine Service in Auckland and the New Zealand Maternal Fetal Medicine Network (NZMFMN). She established the NZMFMN and introduced the high tech procedure of Selective Fetoscopic Laser Photocoagulation for Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome to New Zealand.

Emma has varied clinical interests, but is especially interested in complex multiple pregnancy, 3D scanning of fetal anomalies, information storage and retrieval and pre-term labour.

In 2010, she was named the inaugural Next Magazine ‘Woman of the Year’ for her work in the area of high-risk pregnancy and in the developing world. She was chosen from finalists in five categories: health and science, sports, arts and culture, business and community.

Emma is also a member of several committees both within Auckland City Hospital and New Zealand. She is a member of RANZCOG MFM sub-specialty committee and is also a CMFM sub-specialty examiner.

Patients at Ascot Radiology can now book appointments for obstetric scans with no delay and relax in a comfortable environment, knowing they are being treated by the best specialists and with access to the most advanced equipment. In addition to these benefits, they can also now receive an opinion from a Maternal-Fetal Medicine sub-specialist.

'I work in the field of high-risk obstetrics, which is women and their families who are going through really difficult times. It's some of the most emotionally challenging areas that we work in. I love to see women who may have had a tough time in pregnancy and I have seen them through it and they now have a lovely baby!'
