Ultrasound-based Levovist Hysterosalpingograms now available at Ascot Radiology
22nd June 2011 2:08PM
Ascot Radiology is pleased to announce that the Levovist contrast agent is now available in New Zealand and we are able to offer women Levovist Hysterosalpingograms (HSGs).
This procedure checks a patient's fallopian tubes for blockages or pathology using ultrasound and Levovist, which is a micro-bubble contrast agent. Until Levovist was available in New Zealand, HSGs were done using x-rays and iodine-based contrast.
We now have experience in over 100 of these studies and find them to be a considerable improvement from conventional HSGs. The study includes a full transvaginal ultrasound scan, allowing correlation with other pelvic pathology at the time of the procedure and, because the procedure is carried out with ultrasound, there is no radiation dose to the patient.
Levovist HSGs are performed by Dr David Rogers (Radiologist) and Dr Emma Parry (Obstetrician & Gynaecologist) who have a collective wealth of knowledge in this area.
An appointment for a Levovist HSG can be made by calling us on (09) 520 9550 between 9am and 5pm weekdays.
